The risks and impact of head-on collisions
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of vehicle collisions due to the combined speed and force of both vehicles. Extrication may be required when occupants are trapped, and injuries are often severe.
Emergency responders, including police, fire, and EMS, must coordinate quickly to provide medical care, secure the scene, and assist with vehicle removal. Drivers can reduce the risk of head-on collisions by staying alert, maintaining proper lane control, and avoiding distractions, especially on rural roads or near state borders where traffic patterns can be less predictable.
