How Alcohol Use Can Affect Driving Among Teen Drivers
Alcohol can significantly affect a driver’s ability to react, focus, and make safe decisions. For teen drivers, the risks are often higher due to limited driving experience and less familiarity with handling unexpected situations.
Impaired driving can lead to poor judgment, such as speeding or failing to maintain control of the vehicle. These behaviors increase the likelihood of a crash, especially during late-night hours when visibility is reduced.
Younger drivers may also underestimate the effects of alcohol, which can lead to risky choices behind the wheel. When multiple passengers are in the vehicle, the risk of serious outcomes can increase if a crash occurs.
