Why Intersection Crashes Involving Motorcycles Can Be Severe
Crashes at intersections often involve vehicles crossing paths, which can increase the force of impact. Motorcycles are especially vulnerable in these situations due to limited protection for riders.
When a vehicle enters a roadway from a stop sign, timing and visibility are key factors. If an approaching motorcycle is not seen or misjudged, the chance of a collision rises.
The size difference between motorcycles and larger vehicles can also affect how quickly drivers notice them. When a crash occurs, riders may be thrown from the bike, increasing the risk of serious or fatal injuries.
