What Factors Are Examined After a Pedestrian Crash?
After a pedestrian crash, several factors are typically reviewed to better understand how the incident occurred. Road design and visibility are often considered, including lighting conditions and whether crosswalks or signals were present in the area. These details can help explain how drivers and pedestrians may have interacted before the crash.
Vehicle condition is another area that may be looked at, especially if damage suggests the point of impact. Speed and driver reaction time can also influence how a crash unfolds. In many cases, weather and road surface conditions are reviewed to determine if they contributed to reduced control or visibility.
Pedestrian movement is sometimes assessed as well, such as where the person was walking and whether they were crossing at a marked area. These elements together can provide a clearer picture of the situation.
