San Antonio, TX (May 3, 2026) – A 16-year-old boy was injured Saturday evening after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash on the North Side of San Antonio.
According to the San Antonio Police Department, officers were dispatched just before 8:00 p.m. to the 2300 block of Northwest Military Drive for a reported pedestrian crash. Authorities say the teen was walking in a marked crosswalk when he was hit by a 2023 Chrysler 300.
Police reported that the driver, described as an unknown female, initially stopped to check on the victim but fled the scene after learning that law enforcement had been contacted.
Emergency responders transported the teen to a local hospital with non-critical injuries. At this time, no arrests have been made, and investigators are working to identify and locate the driver involved. The incident remains under investigation.
We hope for a full recovery for the injured teen.
How Do Crosswalk Hit-and-Run Crashes Impact Pedestrian Safety?
Crosswalks are designed to provide pedestrians with a safer place to cross the street, but crashes can still occur when drivers fail to yield or act unpredictably. In hit-and-run situations, the risk is even greater because the driver leaves before ensuring the injured person receives proper care or before providing important information to authorities.
Even when injuries are described as non-critical, being struck by a vehicle can result in significant trauma, especially for younger pedestrians. Crosswalk crashes often happen in areas with steady traffic flow, where visibility, speed, and driver attention all play critical roles.
Investigations into these incidents rely heavily on witness accounts and surveillance footage to identify the vehicle and driver. Drivers are legally required to remain at the scene of any crash involving injury, and leaving can result in serious criminal consequences.
