How Merging Mistakes Can Lead to Serious Multi-Vehicle Crashes
Merging onto a highway can be risky when drivers misjudge the speed or distance of oncoming traffic. Even minor contact between vehicles during a merge can trigger swerving, rollovers, or collisions with surrounding cars.
Vehicles with higher centers of gravity, such as SUVs, are more prone to flipping when forced off balance. Road conditions, driver attention, and the presence of multiple lanes can all contribute to the severity of an accident.
Prompt emergency response helps reduce the risk of further injury, and quickly clearing debris is critical to safely restoring traffic flow. Remaining cautious while merging and maintaining proper space can help prevent similar crashes.
