Nampa, ID (May 25, 2026) – A 23-year-old man from Ontario, Oregon, was injured early Sunday morning, May 24, in a two-vehicle collision on Interstate 84 near mile marker 33 in Nampa, according to Idaho State Police.
Troopers said the sequence occurred just before 5:50 a.m. on the westbound off-ramp of Interstate 84. A Mazda 5 driven by the Ontario man was traveling westbound when it collided with a Volvo truck-tractor pulling a Great Dane trailer.
The 23-year-old driver was taken by ground ambulance to an area hospital for treatment. The Volvo driver, a 54-year-old man from Beaverton, Oregon, was not taken for additional care. Officials confirmed both drivers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision.
Westbound lanes of Interstate 84 were blocked for more than an hour while crews cleared the roadway and removed the vehicles involved. The investigation into the two-vehicle wreck remains ongoing. We are thinking of the injured man as he receives medical care.
What Is Commonly Reviewed After Interstate Ramp Collisions
After roadway situations near interstate ramps, investigators often examine how vehicles entered and exited the highway before contact occurred. Ramp design, merging patterns, and visibility can all play a role in understanding driver movement during the moments leading up to a collision.
Vehicle damage, roadway markings, and final resting positions are typically reviewed to help reconstruct the sequence. In commercial vehicle situations, trailer position and braking distance may also be analyzed as part of the broader evaluation.
Traffic flow and lighting conditions are often considered, especially during early morning travel hours. Statements from drivers and any available witnesses may provide additional context about speed and lane movement. These combined details help create a clearer understanding of how interstate ramp collisions develop.
