How Two-Vehicle Intersection Crashes Can Affect Traffic Flow
Two-vehicle crashes at intersections can cause quick traffic delays, especially when both vehicles move out of the main lanes or stop near nearby businesses. Drivers may slow down to avoid the scene, and access points around gas stations or parking lots can become crowded.
Intersection crashes often involve several factors, including vehicle direction, lane position, signal timing, and whether either driver was turning. Damage to the vehicles may also help show how the impact occurred.
In injury collisions, medical checks can take time at the scene. Even when people are out of the vehicles, responders may still need to assess pain, shock, or other symptoms before the roadway area returns to normal.
