Why Head-On Crashes Lead to Severe Injuries
Head-on crashes are among the most dangerous types of roadway accidents. They occur when two vehicles traveling in opposite directions collide directly with each other, often at higher speeds.
Because both vehicles are moving toward one another, the combined force of impact can be extreme. This often leads to serious injuries for drivers and passengers, especially when larger vehicles like trucks are involved.
Several factors can contribute to this type of collision. Drivers may lose control of their vehicles, drift across a median, or veer into oncoming traffic. Road conditions, speed, and driver behavior can also affect how these incidents occur.
The layout of the roadway can sometimes influence the severity of the crash. Highways with wide medians or barriers are often designed to reduce the risk of vehicles crossing into opposing lanes; however, accidents can still occur in certain situations.
