Escambia Co., FL (June 18, 2026) – Three people were hospitalized on Wednesday evening, June 17, after a three-vehicle crash at West Fairfield Drive and Hollywood Avenue in Escambia County.
The accident happened around 7:00 p.m. at the intersection. Emergency units were called after the vehicles collided, and one vehicle was later found in the woods on fire.
Florida Highway Patrol said a 27-year-old Pensacola man was critically hurt. He was driving on Fairfield Drive when the rear of his sedan collided with the front of an SUV while he was attempting to turn onto Hollywood Avenue.
After the first impact, his vehicle continued through the intersection and was hit by another sedan. A 21-year-old Pensacola man and a 20-year-old Pensacola woman in that sedan were seriously injured.
County officials said two of the three patients were trauma alerts. Fire crews put out the vehicle fire at about 7:05 p.m. The Escambia County crash remains under review as investigators work to confirm the full sequence.
We hope all three people hurt receive the care they need and recover fully.
Multi-Vehicle Intersection Crashes Can Create Serious Injury Risks
Multi-vehicle intersection crashes can become severe because several vehicles may be moving in different directions at once. A turn, a lane crossing, or a second hit can quickly increase the danger for drivers and passengers.
When more than two vehicles are involved, the damage pattern can be harder to understand right away. One vehicle may be struck first, pushed forward, or redirected into another lane before another collision occurs. These chain reactions can leave people with different levels of injury.
A vehicle fire adds another risk because heat, smoke, and leaking fluids can make the roadway unsafe. After a serious intersection accident, reviews sometimes focus on turning movement, vehicle speed, traffic control, lane position, and where each vehicle traveled before contact.
